Thank you everyone! With your support Ajax Minor Hockey raised over $6000 for less fortunate youth in Ajax.
The Oshawa Generals and Peterborough Petes exhibition game at the Ajax Community Centre on September 8th raised over $6000 for the Stephen J. Budai Memorial Foundation which helps less fortunate youth play minor hockey in Ajax.
The game on Saturday night was played in front of a standing room only crowd. The Generals brought the Ajax hockey crowd to their feet beating the Petes 5-1.
"The excitement in the building was incredible", said Dave Stevens, AMHA Marketing Director. "The Generals and Petes were very supportive of the event and the game didn't disappoint".
The money will allow 12 children to play minor hockey in Ajax who wouldn't have otherwise had the means to keep active and join their friends in the great game of hockey.
Brenda Budai, AMHA Executive Administrator and Founder of the Stephen J. Budai Memorial Foundation said "I'm incredibly proud of the hard work the Ajax Hockey volunteers put into the event. I am extremely grateful to the Generals and Petes for helping us with our event". Budai continues, "My husband Stephen was always encouraging kids to play hockey and would relentlessly volunteer his time to developing our young hockey players in the community. He would be extremely proud of what we did on Saturday."
The Ajax Minor Hockey Association kicks off its house league season on September 14th at the Ajax Community Centre.
