Minor Bantam AA Wins Gold in Lake Placid
Submitted By Carrie Reynolds on Wednesday, November 15, 2017
Congratulations to the Minor Bantam AA team on winning Gold in the Lake Placid Challenge Cup this past weekend.  The Ajax Knights Minor Bantam AA team was the only Canadian team to enter the Bantam division.

The boys stepped up against some tough competition. They played 3 of their 4 round robin games against AAA teams and impressed many people!

The first game went against the Buffalo Regals. It was a very physical game on both sides but we came out with a 7-0 win! The second game was a close game against the Caroline Jr. Hurricanes, who were a very fast team. Both teams held each other at no goals until Carolina broke the tie late in the second period and it ended up being the lone goal and the Knights lost 1-0.

The third game was against the Red Bank Generals. We dominated the first two periods. In the third period, Red Bank came out with a fight and scored 2 goals in the last 5 minutes of the game, but we managed to fight hard and came out with a 3-2 win!

The fourth game was against the Minutemen Flames and the Knights were dominant in the game, outshooting the Minutemen 36-6 and won the game 5-0!

The Knights would soon find out they would have a re-match in the Gold Medal Finals against the Red Bank Generals. The coaches and players knew it was going to be a battle for the entire game. The first two periods no one scored and it was a fast paced and tight game. The boys stuck to their game plan and late in the third period put two goals in the net, which ended up being the result and the Knights on the tournament with a 2-0 victory!

Congratulations to all the players and coaches.
