
AGM Update

As per our Ajax Minor Hockey Association Bylaws, Section 7.1, we are required to hold an Annual General Meeting of the Membership in the Month of May or June. As you are all aware Covid-19 put a damper on those plans, as we were unable to hold any meetings in May or June of this year.
In accordance with section 7.3(a) of our Bylaws, we set a date for the Annual General meeting of the Membership for October 22, 2020, location to be determined.
Durham Region currently allows 50 people inside in a grouping, however the Town of Ajax allows only 40 inside. The Town recently changed this number to 10 because the only meeting rooms open are satellite stations and they are not supervised and therefore scaled back the number from 40 to 10 given the rise in cases in Ontario. No meeting rooms are currently open at the Community Centres and they are not sure if and when they will be opening them. Therefore, we have no venue to accommodate an Annual General Meeting of the Membership. This means we have had to cancel our October 22, 2020 meeting as well.
Under Section 7.5 of our Bylaws, meetings of our Association are not permitted to have proxies. In other words, all members wishing to vote must be in attendance at the Meeting.
The Board continues to monitor the situation. We will again post for an Annual General Meeting as soon as we are able to have a greater number of people grouped inside. As per the Bylaws Section 7.3(a) notice of the Annual General Meeting will appear on the Association website at least 40 days before the date of the meeting.
