2020-2021 Season Overview

We thank you for your patience and understanding over the past few months as we worked diligently with various authorities to ensure a safe return to play for our hockey players.  Today we would like to share a quick overview of what the 2020-2021season will look like keeping in mind that this plan is subject to change.  A more detailed, comprehensive plan along with safety protocols will be provided with our Registration information later this week. 

AMHA is governed by Hockey Canada, OHF and OMHA, respectively, and all return to play decisions made were in line with these governing bodies with final approval from the OMHA to be obtained.   





Given the parameters set by our governing bodies, the AMHA will offer a program that focuses on getting the players back on the ice for fun, fitness and skill development.

 

** There is no travel hockey (representative and select).  All programs are in-house programs.

 

The AMHA anticipates a start date of October 13, 2020 and continuing until March 2021 (subject to change)

 

AMHA will run a tiered in house program with 3-on-3 or 4-on-4 game play with no physical contact.  Rosters will consist of 9 skaters and 1 dedicated goalie.  Bench staff will include one certified coach and one certified trainer.

 

All players will play within a bubble which will be limited to 50 players (5 teams).  Players will not cross bubbles once they have been assigned.

 

Representative players (based on 2019-2020 registration) will be assigned to one bubble and house league players to another bubble; numbers permitting.    Players may be assigned to different bubbles based on their caliber.

 

With the exception of the Midget and Juvenile Divisions, each division will have one practice and one game per week.

 

Safety protocols will be put in place which will include screening and tracking of all participants (players and spectators) prior to every practice/game and immediate notification of any confirmed or suspected case(s).

 

There will be no access to change rooms (players will come dressed and socially distanced areas will be provided to put on skates).

 

There will be limited spectators (maximum of 1 spectator per player-no siblings)

 

To facilitate a modified return to hockey framework, we are going to require additional coaching staff. If you are interested in coaching this season, please complete the Coaching application that will be open on the website on September 18, 2020.

 

We will see an impact to our seasonal budget with decreased rosters sizes and lack of tournament revenue this season. Our mandate is to build a program that gets players back on the ice to promote their physical and emotional well-being during this time, while being fiscally responsible and working within our governing body and health unit guidelines.

 

Registration will open on September 18, 2020

 

Cost of registration is as follows:

 

Timbits - $295

U16/18 (Midget) - $475

U21 (Juvenile) - $475

 

U7-U15 (Initiation-Bantam) - $650
