Peewee A Wins GTHL Founders Cup
Submitted By Carrie Reynolds on Sunday, May 5, 2019
Congratulations to the Peewee A team for winning the GTHL Founders Cup.

After finishing 3rd in the 10-game round robin, the team took their game to another level throughout the Founders Cup Playoffs winning a tight final match 3-2 in a shoot-out.

The game was extremely close checking on both sides from puck drop in stark contrast to the 7-7 tie these teams ended with in the round robin.

It wasn't until late in the 2nd period when the Knights opened the scoring and then once again early in the 3rd period.  Erindale did not go gently into the night. Their relentless pressure resulted in 2 goals sending the game into a 10 min sudden victory overtime period.  Overtime was unable to decide a winner although it did provide some close calls.  It was off to a 3 round shoot out. The Knights opened the scoring. The Spitfires equaled with a goal of their own. The next round saw great goalie saves on both sides. Round 3 shooter for the Knights slid the puck into the open net.  The Spitfire came down moving the puck back and forth but the goalie did not show any net. The Erindale player ripped a high shot and the puck went ringing off the crossbar. How fitting to end a championship game with a shootout.

Congratulations to the bench staff, players and parents on an outstanding championship win in the Founders Cup.
