Submitted By Carrie Reynolds on Wednesday, November 1, 2017
Congratulations to the Ajax Knights Minor Midget A team on winning the CAN/AM Challenge Cup in Lake Placid, New York this past weekend. The team was entered in the Midget 16U division and went 4-0 in the preliminary round qualifying them for the gold medal game where they faced the Newmarket Midget A's who also went undefeated at 4-0.

The final was a tough challenge for the boys who played hard with lots of heart and determination. The game ended 1-1 in regulation time and went to a 5 minute 3 on 3 sudden death overtime period with no stop time and changes only on the fly! It was in the second 5 minute overtime, with 1 minute and 21 seconds left on the clock when #77 Z. Hoogendam scored the winning goal to bring home the Gold Medal!!

Congratulations to all the players, E. Guzzo, B. Gill, G. Bryan, S. Reimer, N. Morsillo, N. Inacio, A. Woodard, Z. Hoogendam, E. Griffiths, K. Ward, T. Koe, T. Sharkey, M. Dobson, Y. Plassaras, R. Groen, L. Boggs and A. Halanen and the coaching staff of Guy Crozier and Bob Sharkey, trainers Darrin Woodard and Renee Griffiths, and manager Christine McGhie for a successful weekend.
