Midget AE (Red) Wins Doug Thomson Memorial Tournament
Submitted By Carrie Reynolds on Wednesday, April 15, 2015
Congratulations to the Ajax Midget AE Red team for winning the Doug Thompson Memorial tournament in Milton.

Ajax opened the tournament with a 2-1 win over the Gloucester Orleans Blues. Alvin Trim opened the scoring with a blast from the point assisted by Vincent Reid and Tyler Stokes. Jack Brown followed up with the second goal assisted by Joel Maugeri.  Ajax then defeated the Kent Cobras 2-0. Nick Iervassi scored the first goal assisted by Brown and Maugeri. Cody Rowsell scored the second goal assisted by Brendan Slade. KC Cazranee was stellar in net earning the shut-out. Ajax dropped the third game to the Oakville Chiefs 2-1. Blair Ballantine scored unassisted.

On Championship Sunday Ajax faced Gloucester in the Semi Finals. Ajax was shut-out until late in the third when Scott Ryman went end to end and popped the water bottle to send the game into overtime. The overtime period did not settle the game so a shoot-out was in order. Ajax goalie Cazranee stoned both Gloucester shooters while Brown and Slade scored to give Ajax the win. This set up a final against the Kent Cobras. It was a close hard fought game right to the end. Scoring the lone Ajax goal was Rowsell assisted by Slade and Kane Patterson. Matthew Ferreira stoned the Cobras to earn the shutout.

Congratulations to the 1997 players on an exceptional year and career in Minor Hockey: Jack Brown #9, Tyler stokes # 76, Vincent Reid # 23, Brendan Slade #6, and Kane Patterson #11. Other members: Matthew Ferreira, KC Cazranee, Blair Ballantine, Joshua Hall, Nick Iervassi, John Mallare, Joel Maugeri, Sean O’Brien, Jaimin Panesar, Cody Rowsell, Scott Ryman and Alvin Trim. Team Manager Andrea Reid. Coaches: Paul Maugeri, Brian Panesar, and Mike O’Brien
