Minor Bantam Selects Win Third Championship
The Ajax Knights Minor Bantam Selects ended their season on a high note by winning their third tournament championship of the season, bringing home the gold from the Etobicoke Bulldogs 2015 Select Tournament.
The Knights kicked off the tournament by skating to a 1-1 tie with the Erindale Spitfires on Friday. However the Knights hit the ice with purpose for Saturday's games defeating the West Mall Lighting 4-1 in game #2 and defeating the host Etobicoke Bulldogs 7-2 in game #3.
The Minor Bantam Knights headed to the semi-finals to take on the Erindale Spitfires. This time the Ajax Knights didn't waste any time and jumped out to a early 1-0 lead and eventually defeated the Spitfires by a score of 5-2.
It was an OMHA reunion in the final as the Ajax Knights took on the Whitby Wildcats. Ajax struck early in the first to take the lead 1-0 and Whitby replied midway through the 2nd to tie it at 1-1. After a back and forth 3rd the game headed to overtime. Nothing was solved in the first period of 4 on 4 overtime so the game headed to a second OT period of 3 on 3. With about 2 minutes left in the extra frame Ajax defenceman Josh Theodor took the puck and when end to end to score the game winning goal giving the Knights the championship.
Congratulations to all the boys, parents and coaching staff for a great weekend and great season.
